Daffodils represent “New Beginnings.” The vase in this piece is having a fresh start of its own, having been mended in the Kintsugi tradition. Repairing with gold reminds us that objects become more valuable and more beautiful for having been thoughtfully repaired than if they were never broken. People too are worthy of the care and attention of healing, as is the case in the Testa Di Moro vase in “New Beginnings.” Testa Di Moro vases are part of a rich, Sicilian pottery tradition that dates back nearly 1000 years.

“Friendship Duck” by Carly Maiorano was inspired by a decades-long tradition of exchanging (mostly vintage) ducks with a dear friend. Cool vintage bird? Doesn’t stand a chance, it’ll likely become a symbol of friendship gifted to one another. This piece speaks to the power that ducks have to make me feel connected with friends, and to the bright, warm energy of friendship.

The Blue Poppy is incredibly rare, only growing in the wild of the Himalayas and requiring very specific conditions to thrive. When the Blue Poppy is under stress, it blooms with streaks of purple. While technically the “strongest” blooms only have blue petals, there is something singular and striking in the resilience of this purple-streaked flower, the one that blooms without hiding its struggle.
