Call For Visual Artists, Poets, Musicians, & Spoken Word Artists

  • The Glad Suite Gallery 1339 Linden Street Wilmington, DE, 19805 United States (map)

IT’S GALLERY SHOW TIME at The Glad Suite!

The Glad Suite will be hosting a First Friday Art Loop Gallery Show on October 2nd with the following theme:

Here Is Where We Part

This art exhibition will be an unwavering representation of artists willing to share personal or reimagined stories through art. While the exhibition is a collaboration of multiple artists through various art disciplines, it ultimately creates a collective journey — revealing layers of shared experiences. It will be an artistic interpretation of what one is parting with, what sustains us through the times, and a celebration of starting a new journey, while standing in power together.

The Glad Suite is seeking Visual Art, Music, Writing, and Spoken Word Art for this exhibition.

For Poets and Spoken Word Artists, there will be opportunities to visually display written works in the show, and some time slots will be awarded to Spoken Word Artists to orate alongside Michael Of The Lē at this event. Time slots may also be awarded to musicians with solo or duo acts. Music can also be submitted for inclusion as accompaniment to the show and as saleable works (CDs, Records, Digital Albums, etc.)

Michael Of The Lē

This exhibition is inspired by the works of Michael Of The Lē, a multifaceted literary artist whose work is rooted in advocacy, undergirded by hope. A poet, writer, and orator, Michael intricately weaves words of resistance and resilience, threaded by faith. He frequently references historical events and figures to serve as a blueprint — still applicable to modern times. This is effectively done by acknowledging both the beautiful and ugly parts of history to facilitate safe environments of learning, conversation, and inclusion. Through his creative work and his life, Michael advocates for all marginalized groups including BIPOC, women and children, the LGBTQ+ community, veterans, the disabled, and the elderly. Michael Of The Lē will be the featured orator at this Gallery Show.

While I’d love for you (and your family and friends!) to be there during the Gallery Show on October 2nd, attendance is not required for inclusion in the visual arts or displayed poetry portion of the show. Spoken Word Artists selected for oration will need to be available to attend the October 2nd First Friday Show.

Participation in this Gallery Show includes social media posts by The Glad Suite featuring your work leading up to the event. All web listings and point of sale are managed by The Glad Suite - you will receive payment as your pieces are sold. All works remain the property of the artist until sold. Works will remain available on The Glad Suite website for 4 weeks as part of the show, and can remain available on-site for longer as preferred. For Writers, Poets, and Musicians this can include published works or available media. This Gallery Show is designed to foster creative community and support Artists. The Glad Suite often features emerging artists, so previous gallery showings are not a requisite! The Glad Suite will receive a recommended commission of 20% of sold works.

Please email hello@thegladsuite.com with images that show examples of works you wish to include in this show. Use Subject Line “The Glad Suite Gallery Show Application” for consideration.

Application Deadline: Tuesday, September 8th at 11:59PM Eastern Time. Artists will be notified of acceptance by Thursday, September 10th. All finished works must be received by The Glad Suite by Sunday, September 20th so that they may be photographed and that listings can be prepared in advance of the show’s opening.
